Boothroyd starts reshuffle

New Northampton manager Aidy Boothroyd revealed he has released defender Ashley Westwood and midfielder Chris Arthur.

Centre-half Westwood, in his second spell with the Cobblers, was contracted until the end of December and had made 14 starts in League Two. Arthur would have been a free agent in January - the 21-year-old made eight appearances for the club. Bothroyd, whose first game in charge on Saturday ended in a 1-1 draw against Crewe at Sixfields, told the club's official website: "I made this decision now as I believe in being 100% honest with people. "The two lads were not going to feature in the first team in the next few weeks. So I thought it was better to tell them now. "They can spend Christmas with their families, and they are free agents for the January transfer window. We wish them both well for the future."
