Cobblers keeper thanks club

Northampton goalkeeper Neal Kitson has thanked the club for their support following his successful debut at Crewe.

The 26-year-old, who joined the club on a short-term deal from US side Rochester Rhinos in January, saved a penalty in the 1-1 draw at Gresty Road and was grateful for the opportunity which came after on-loan Matt Duke was recalled to parent club Bradford. "This is my first game in England [when] I've actually been able to show what I can do," the American told BBC Northampton. "The gaffer has believed in me, the team were behind me and it was a collective effort. "I've always wanted to play in England and my family is from Sheffield. As soon as I had the opportunity to be here, I was on the plane. There's a couple of players who've come over [from the USA] and done well, and hopefully I can add my name to that list." On his spot-kick heroics, he added: "I felt there was going to be a penalty. "I enjoy them. I read his eyes, went the right way and luckily enough it hit me."
