Robins in new stadium talks

Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker has revealed plans to relocate to the town's famous racecourse are still alive.

Talk of the move from Whaddon Road has been quiet since it was mentioned two years ago at a very early stage. But with Cheltenham racecourse bosses recently reiterating a desire to press ahead with their own redevelopment plans, Baker has confirmed he is due to meet with key figures next week to put together a potential business plan for a possible move. Speaking at Town's shareholder meeting, the Robins chief was quoted on the club's official website as saying: "It's still early days but exploratory talks are continuing. "I like the idea and I think a new stadium always gives a boost to a club. "There are a number of things that would need to happen before we see any firm decision but we're still in discussions with the racecourse, the Jockey Club and the borough council."
