Dons hit four past Robins

Image: Midson: Inspires win

Striker Jack Midson helped AFC Wimbledon secure a resounding 4-1 League Two victory over Cheltenham on Saturday.

Midson, who swapped Oxford for the Dons in June despite interest from Town, bagged the third goal of a routine afternoon for the home side after 66 minutes Terry Brown's side opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Sammy Hatton's cross from the right was headed in by Ricky Wellard. Cheltenham wasted a glaring opportunity to equalise after 35 minutes when Josh Low set up Jimmy Spencer in space in the penalty area, but the young striker made a mess of his shot. Things worsened for Cheltenham five minutes before half-time when Lee Minshull's cross was turned into his own net by a lunging Steve Elliott. Midson put the result beyond doubt with the third, finishing well after good play from substitute Rashid Yussuff, who struck the fourth in the 85th minute. Darryl Duffy headed in a consolation for Cheltenham from Danny Andrew's cross in the final minute.
