Phil Parkinson says Bradford were "excellent" in beating Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 on penalties in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The former Colchester, Hull and Charlton boss watched the game from the stands after succeeding Peter Jackson on Monday. "I am pleased," he said. "There were a lot of good signs out there. "I went into the dressing room at half-time and I told the players to be patient. We had a better shape in the second half and created some good chances. I thought they were excellent, they kept going and did so physically." Parkinson claimed a 65th-minute effort from defender Luke Oliver had gone over the line and added: "That was an injustice but the players went on and kept at it. "The lads kept their cool for the penalties and I will see them again on Thursday. I have told them to eat well - we want to get their energies up for the next game at Morecambe."
