Chesterfield caretaker boss Tommy Wright saluted new boy Chris Atkinson after the 3-1 win over Wycombe at the Proact Stadium.
Atkinson celebrated his arrival on a one month loan from Huddersfield with an early strike after Leon Johnson was shown a red card for a 10th minute trip on Marc Richards. "I thought Chris had a fantastic debut," Wright said. "I knew he would tire because first team games are different but he's a good player and I want to bring good players to the club. "He's a box-to-box midfielder who passes the ball quickly and i knew he would do that and give our wide players a bit more time on the ball. "In the first half I thought we were excellent and the two strikers and midfield players were a different class. We got a bit edgy but, overall, I'm pleased. "When they got back to 2-1 you always worry but I thought when they scored we got better. We started to pass the ball and stretched them and got the ball wide."
