League Two side Rotherham are hoping to sign former Leeds United and Doncaster defender Richard Naylor on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old centre-back, who the Millers tried to sign in the summer, has been without a club since his release from Rovers earlier this month. He is training with the Millers this week and manager Andy Scott hopes to tie up a deal before Saturday's clash with Swindon. "We need one more defender so we are trying to do a deal for Richard and he will be a good addition, not just on the pitch," Scott said. "He is a proper player and a proper defender. "If he played on a park on a Sunday he would give a 100 per cent and want to win and that is the sort of character you need. "We have spoken to him and his representatives and we are hopeful to get something tied up for the weekend and that would be a big boost."
