Rotherham v Hereford preview

Image: Cresswell: Could return for Rotherham

Team news for Saturday's League Two clash between Rotherham and Hereford at Don Valley Stadium.

Rotherham will be without defender Michael Raynes. The centre-half limped out of last week's 3-0 reverse at Crawley with a hamstring injury which, although is not as bad as first feared, will keep him out at Don Valley. That means Ryan Cresswell could be in line to make his first start since September in what has been another injury-hit campaign for the club captain. On-loan forward Sam Hoskins is pushing for a first start after making two appearances from the bench. Luke Foster and Richard Naylor (both knee) are the only other absentees for the Millers, who will play their third game under the control of caretaker manager Darren Patterson. No appointment for Andy Scott's successor is likely to come before the weekend, with former boss Mark Robins and Lee Clark among the favourites for the position. Sam Clucas could be involved for Hereford after his ankle injury was deemed not as bad as first feared. The midfielder was forced out of last weekend's 1-0 home defeat to Crewe after just 27 minutes and looked set for at least a couple of weeks on the sidelines. However, Clucas is now facing a race against time to be fit for the Don Valley clash as the Bulls look to haul themselves off the foot of the npower League Two table. Fellow midfielder James McQuilkin picked up a small knock against Alex and will be assessed. Midfielder Simon Clist (ankle) and Benoit Dalibard (hamstring) are targeting their respective returns in around a week to 10 days, while Rob Purdie (hamstring) and Joe Heath (groin) also currently remain unavailable. Deadline-day loan signings James Chambers and James Baxendale are both still to make their first-team debuts for the club but gained vital match practice with the reserves earlier this week.
