New Rotherham manager Steve Evans would have liked to remain with Crawley until the end of the season.
The 49-year-old made the surprise move to Don Valley after five successful years at Crawley, leaving the Red Devils firmly in the race for automatic promotion. Evans has revealed that he and his new club were willing to wait until the end of the season to pair up, but that did not suit the Sussex club. "I think Rotherham United and I were both very happy to see the Crawley Town project through until the end of the season," he told the club's official website. "But Crawley felt that if my head was on Rotherham then I wouldn't be focused on that job."
