Imps miss out on Sangare

Lincoln have missed out on the chance to sign Djoumin Sangare after the French defender joined the Imps' rivals Oxford.

The 27-year-old had departed York City, hoping to secure a move to a football club in Morocco, but remained in England. He had been on trial with Steve Tilson's side and was going to feature in a reserve-team fixture at Hull on Wednesday. However, he was withdrawn from the game and has now signed a short-term deal with Oxford until the end of the season. Sangare told Oxford's official website: "It's a good opportunity for me. Oxford are a big club. "They shouldn't be in League Two, they should be much higher. "I want to try and help them and impress them during this short spell, hopefully I'll get a longer contract." The defender has also spent time with Salisbury and Stafford.
