Ray Mathias is confident he could lead the club straight back into the Football League if he gets a permanent deal.
Stockport's board are due to meet to discuss the future of Mathias, who joined the club in January, but an announcement is not expected until after County's last game against Cheltenham on Saturday. The caretaker boss said: "It's going to be a long season next year, but, given the chance, I will give it my best shot at bringing us straight back up. "I understand the chairman is talking to people who might be able to buy the club and that would be a big help because it would stabilise the club."
