Sanchez: Bees worthy of draw

Barnet boss Lawrie Sanchez says his team deserved a draw against Gillingham and hopes the result will be a psychological boost.

The Bees twice trailed at Underhill to goals by Danny Spiller and Jack Payne but Izale McLeod pegged back the Gills on both occasions, including one deep into stoppage time. Sanchez said: "I thought we were the better team at 1-1 but then we have to score in the 94th minute so I am a little bit confused about how to feel about it. "A few home truths were told at half-time but that's what managers are paid for. We are a decent side but we need to believe we are a decent side. I thought we were the better team at Port Vale and we were well on top at 1-1. "Sometimes when you have been a team at the bottom of the table, they don't believe they can do better than that so it is a matter of getting that belief across. "It was important we did not lose and I am pleased by the character shown. I knew we had character from last season but it is just that naivety and gamecraft we need to work on."
