Pitman hails 'fantastic' Sam

Hereford boss Jamie Pitman was full of praise for teenager Sam Winnall in a 1-0 victory over Dagenham and Redbridge at Edgar Street.
The young striker, on loan from Wolves, came on as a substitute to fire the Bulls to their first win of the campaign, his excellent strike five minutes from time securing all three points. And Pitman's side survived a penalty call after referee Bobby Madley overruled his linesman following Ryan Green's challenge on Gavin Tomlin. "I felt we always had a goal in us but it was just a case of getting that chance," said Pitman. "Young Sam Winnall is a fantastic prospect and he knows where the goal is. "But it's a great result for us. If you look at the league table, a defeat would have left us with a big uphill task. It wasn't pretty but it was fantastic to get a result. Again we were solid at the back so we have to take a lot of heart from that into the next games. On his opposite number he added: "John Still has done a fantastic job at Dagenham. They are very well organised and very difficult to break down so we had to persevere."
