Campbell and Rovers clear air

Midfielder Stuart Campbell has held clear-the-air talks with Bristol Rovers regarding his ongoing contract saga.
Campbell, Pirates manager Paul Buckle and chairman Nick Higgs have been at the centre of a very public war of words in recent weeks - all of which revolved around the possible extension of the 33-year-old's deal at the Memorial Stadium. Campbell rubbished Buckle's claims he had been offered a coaching contract, while Higgs expressed his disappointment at the way the negotiations had played out in the press and said a two-year extension would not be forthcoming mid-season. But all the parties have now come to an amicable arrangement, according to a statement issued by Rovers on Wednesday, which read: "The club has met with Stuart Campbell for a clear-the-air meeting and, as a result, all parties have agreed on a way forward. "Both parties have agreed that any further contract negotiations will be dealt with the appropriate time and in private. A line has now been drawn under the whole affair. "Chairman Nick Higgs paid tribute to Stuart's commitment to the club and looks forward to the remainder of the season."
