Sanchez: Bees safe on my watch

Under-pressure Lawrie Sanchez vowed to fight on as Barnet boss after seeing his side stop the rot with a 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Sanchez, a Dons legend after his FA Cup-winning goal in 1988, saw his side respond to last weekend's 6-3 humiliation at the hands of Burton by earning their first point in four games. After admitting last weekend he was in danger of getting the sack, Sanchez insisted he had no intention of suffering his first managerial relegation with the Bees. "You can only judge a manager on track records. I saved Wycombe with 18 games left to go, saved Fulham with five games and I was here with four games to go at the end of last season," Sanchez said. "I've got experience. I've never been relegated as a manager, clubs have been relegated after I've left them. "You look at the league at this moment of time and we're in trouble, but these are my players, they're my responsibility. They won't be relegated on my watch. I believe that I'm capable of doing it and if we'd won we would have been out of the bottom two. "They could have been in the conference this year if I hadn't come in. Time will tell if I'm given the chance but if you were looking for somebody to save the club from relegation then you would look at me and we can do it."
