League Two outfit Oxford United have secured the signing of Australian striker Matthew Fletcher on a short-term contract.

The 19-year-old was formerly with Premier League outfit Sunderland but was released in the summer. Fletcher, an Australia Under-20 international, told the club's official website: "I'm glad to be here. I can't wait to start and hopefully make a good impression on the manager." Us boss Chris Wilder added: "Matt is a player with bags of potential and a great pedigree. He has the chance to come in and impress and is one we are looking at for longer if he does well. "This is a great opportunity for Matt and we look forward to working with him."
