Ardley looks on bright side

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley expressed his frustration after his side conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 home draw with Wycombe.

Matt McClure stepped off the substitutes' bench to rescue a point for Wycombe with 18 minutes to go, but Ardley insisted his side had done more than enough to take the points. Wycombe went ahead through Jo Kuffour, but West Ham loanee Paul McCallum levelled and then added his fourth goal in three games to put the Dons ahead, only for McClure's late leveller to ensure it ended a point apiece. "I've got mixed emotions," said Ardley, who has seen his side start January with back-to-back wins. "I'm angry and I'm frustrated at dropping two points in a game we should have won. "On the flipside, the performance was really good. We started poorly, but we got to grips with what we should have been doing in the first place and second half we were excellent. "There was a 20-minute spell where we needed to score to kill the game off. At 2-1 the next goal is vital. "I knew that if they scored it would be the sort of goal where someone just switches off or makes a poor clearance which is what happened. "So I'm frustrated but overall happy with how we went about our work. "When you have the momentum you need to make it count and where we are at the bottom we've had trouble doing that. "It was a horrible goal they scored from our perspective because it was a goal that could have been avoided."
