Nigel Worthington was happy with the performance of his York side even though they went down to a 2-0 defeat against Dagenham. Rhys Murphy's second league goal of the season and a first of the campaign for Brian Woodall sealed the first three points of the season for Dagenham in the Sky BetLeague Two clash. Youngster Murphy kept his composure to strike after 36 minutes, racing on to a Woodall through-ball to beat the offside trap before rounding stranded York goalkeeper Michael Ingham to tap home right footed from a narrow angle. Woodall himself sealed the Minstermen's fate 11 minutes from time. Neatly controlling a long cross-field pass from Femi Ilesanmi on his chest, the striker poked the ball beyond Ingham to seal all three points for Wayne Burnett's side. York striker Richard Cresswell was unlucky to twice see first-half headers cleared off the line by Daggers defender Brian Saah following good work from Lanre Oyebanjo, and the visitors started the second half brightly with Michael Coulson seeing a long-range effort deflected just wide of the far post. "We competed well and I thought we played some good football, particularly in the first half, and I thought we were on top for quite a bit of the game," said Worthington. "As the game went on, there were a few changes and everything dropped a little bit and they've got the second one to see the game off. "Overall, though, there was a lot of good play in the game but we just need to keep the ball in the box a bit more than what we're doing at the moment."
