Worthington upbeat despite loss

York manager Nigel Worthington hailed the character of his side despite the Minstermen slipping to a 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood.

The visitors dominated proceedings from the start and took the lead through Gareth Evans before Jamille Matt pounced in the area in the second half to take the points back to Lancashire. However, Worthington praised the way his side finished the game and believes they need to take the positives from that performance into Tuesday's match against Scunthorpe. "We set up like we did on Tuesday at Chesterfield to try and hold them and for the large part of the game we held them up well," he said. "We restricted them and they didn't create so many chances but the goals we conceded are not good goals to concede. The first goal we could have done better with and the second one as well. "At half-time we changed the formation to 4-4-2 and that worked better for us. I'm delighted with the character of the team and we fought to the final whistle. "We created more chances in the final 15 minutes and put their goalkeeper under pressure and we need to repeat that in our next game. "The players have put a shift in today, which is good. The spirit is good at the moment and we'll continue moving forward."
