Ainsworth apologises to fans

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth apologised to his team's support after they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at York.

Goals from Ryan Bowman and Josh Carson proved crucial and although Steven Craig struck a post late on for Wycombe, the Minstermen extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a fourth successive victory. Ainsworth lamented a poor first-half display and made it clear he expects a big improvement against Cheltenham. He said: "We didn't get out of the blocks at the start. We were poor and the wind was right in our face, they knew what they were doing as they turned us around straight from kick-off and they took advantage. "We didn't get out of our half and we didn't get going, and by that time we were 1-0 down with a soft penalty. You can't afford to do that, especially where we are in the league and especially at this stage of the season. "The second goal before half-time was absolutely comedy for me as they went and scored from our corner. It's the killer blow because if we go in 1-0 down then we have something to really go for in the second half especially with the wind. "I apologise to the fans who made the trip up here. It's not acceptable for me and we'll be doing everything to put it right on Tuesday."
