Ardley: We deserved a point

AFC Wimbledon boss Neil Ardley was delighted to see his side produce another late comeback in a 2-2 draw at Northampton.

Days after scoring three times in just over two minutes before grabbing a late winner in their 4-3 victory over Cheltenham, the 10-man Dons bagged a last-gasp equaliser as Sammy Moore pounced in stoppage time. Ardley's men had led through George Francomb's early opener but Jack Midson was sent off for a handball in the area just before the half-hour mark. Northampton midfielder Darren Carter scored from the resulting penalty and found the net again 11 minutes from time, but Wimbledon denied the Cobblers a first win in four through Moore's strike. Ardley felt it was no less than the Dons deserved. "To be honest there's no way we would have deserved to have lost that game. Anyone who says that we did is fooling themselves," he said. "We were resilient in the second half, we stayed in shape and the players did everything we asked of them. "We thoroughly deserved to get something from the game and I think all of the fans will be going home proud of this team. "For the penalty, Jack admitted it hit his hand, he didn't handball it, but it hit his hand. "But even with 10 men we limited them to very little in the second half. If we'd lost it would've been very harsh on us."
