Hartlepool have confirmed that defender Darren Holden has signed a new contract with the club.
The South Africa-born left-back, 20, has put pen to paper on an undisclosed deal to extend his stay at Victoria Park. "It felt very good to sign the contract and I can't wait to get started again in July now," Holden told the club's official website. "When the manager told me he was going to offer me a new deal I was overwhelmed. "I'm still learning every week and I just want to keep on improving and keep a place in the team." Holden, handed his first professional deal in 2012, made 28 first-team appearances last season, starting all of Pools' last 20 games. Fellow defenders Jordan Richards and Sam Collins had previously signed new deals with the club, the latter in a new player/coach's role.
