Burton have completed the permanent signing of former Preston defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff on a two-year contract.

The centre-half has penned a deal at the Pirelli Stadium following his release by the Lilywhites. Cansdell-Sherriff finished the season on loan at Albion and played at Wembley on Monday as they were beaten 1-0 by Fleetwood in the League Two play-off final. The former Shrewsbury defender made 22 appearances for Preston during his time with the Lancashire club, scoring once. Meanwhile, Burton have released six out-of-contract players. Zander Diamond, Gary Alexander, Jack Dyer, Michael Symes, David Gray and Freddy Hall have all been told by manager Gary Rowett that they will not be offered new deals.
