Boss Micky Mellon has issued a hands-off warning to clubs wanting to tempt Ryan Woods away from Shrewsbury.
The midfielder has impressed for Town this season and shone in their 2-1 League Cup defeat to Barclays Premier League leaders Chelsea last month. But Mellon, who has guided his side to fourth in Sky Bet League Two after six wins in their last seven games, insisted he is determined to keep 20-year-old Woods. He said: "We are a club that do not want to lose our best players. We want to move forward and we want to progress. "If you want to do that then things are simple - you don't sell your best players. "Ryan is contracted, so anything that may happen we will be in control of. Ryan Woods is ours for another couple of years. "But there are a number of really talented players at the club and I always tell people they are all absolutely focused on getting the job done this year. "They will not lose that focus and they will stay on task to make sure we can keep moving forward." Town's winning run ended when they blew a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Exeter on Saturday, despite James Collins' double. "James has been absolutely fantastic. He has scored two goals at Exeter and ended up on the losing side," Mellon told the Shropshire Star.
