Honour returns to Hartlepool

Managerless Hartlepool have added former player Brian Honour to their coaching staff on a short-term basis.

Honour played nearly 400 times for Pools and will assist joint caretakers Sam Collins and Stephen Pears, who were given their roles when Colin Cooper resigned from his managerial post earlier this month. Honour also has experience of taking charge as a caretaker, having done so with Hartlepool in 1999 alongside Paul Baker. "Brian knows the club inside-out and has vast experience so I am delighted he's going to come in and work with us," Collins said on the League Two club's official website. "He knows exactly what the fans want to see out on the pitch and I think his approach to the game is very similar to mine so I think it's great to have him on board. "After our brilliant win on Saturday we want to keep on building the momentum and I'm sure having Brian's coaching knowledge and bubbly personality around the place will help us do that." Pools moved off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win at Exeter on Saturday.
