Noble cracker rescues Grecians

Image: Noble: Stoppage-time equaliser

David Noble's thunderbolt deep into stoppage time earned Exeter a 1-1 home draw with Walsall in the FA Cup first round.

It was hard luck on the Saddlers, who had looked like progressing to round two after Mark Wilson's free-kick had given them a half-time lead. Wilson struck after 20 minutes when Troy Archibald-Henville was penalised for a trip and Wilson's shot took a huge deflection to leave Exeter goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley wrong-footed. Exeter came back strongly at the start of the second half and Liam Sercombe looked their most likely source of an equaliser, but he was denied by David Grof on more than one occasion. Grof's heroics were not enough for Walsall, though, as with the last kick of the game Noble let fly from 25 yards and his shot flew into the bottom corner.
