Shrewsbury have offered former goalkeeper Gavin Ward the chance to work as a part-time coach.

The Shrews were rocked last week when goalkeeping coach Paul Gerrard left the club to take up a full-time position at Oldham, but have moved quickly to cover the vacant role. Town manager Graham Turner confirmed on the club's official website: "Gavin has been working with our youth set-up and is an experienced goalkeeping coach. "There will be an offer for him to come and work with us on a part-time basis." Ward, 41, made over 400 appearances in nearly 20 years for clubs including Cardiff, Leicester, Bolton, Stoke and Coventry. He has previously worked as assistant manager to former Aston Villa boss Brian Little at Gainsborough Trinity, in addition to coaching work at Preston following his retirement from playing.
