Fairclough happy with point

Barnet caretaker manager Paul Fairclough was happy to take a point from an emotional day at Macclesfield.

The game was Town's first since the sudden death of midfielder Richard Butler and a pre-match tribute was held featuring a representative from each of the seven clubs he played for. Izale McLeod's penalty was cancelled out by Colin Daniel's leveller, and afterwards Fairclough said: "The occasion was very difficult for both sets of players, both for Barnet and of course for Macclesfield. It was the sort of day when you just didn't know what to expect. "I have to say the Macclesfield players did Richard Butcher proud with the sort of performance they put on on what was a very sad occasion. It was all in all a very proud but also very sad occasion." The resulted promoted the struggling Bees up to 21st in the table as they look to climb away from the drop zone. And Fairclough added: "Naturally given the nature of the day I'm more than happy with a point. "It was really a clash of cultures. They are very big and very direct, they throw the ball forward, play for the second ball and throw-ins and they're very difficult to counteract. Whereas we like to get the ball on the floor and pass. "It's a very difficult place to come on any occasion but when the game is so emotionally charged it's much more difficult."
