Burnley defender Richard Eckersley has joined Canadian MLS side Toronto FC on loan until January.
Eckersley, 22, has been recalled from his loan spell with Bury to link up again with former Plymouth manager Paul Mariner, who is currently director of player development with Toronto. Eckersley spent two months on loan at Argyle under Mariner at the end of last season. A loan spell at Bradford followed in November 2010 before he linked up with the Shakers in March of this year. The former Manchester United trainee signed a four-year deal with Burnley in the summer of 2009 but has made just three appearances for the Clarets.
