Caley seal double swoop

Winger Aaron Doran and former Northampton striker Billy McKay have agreed to join Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The pair have agreed terms with the club and their signings are expected to be completed this week. Irishman Doran, 20, made a major impact at Caley Thistle while on loan from Blackburn in the latter half of last season. McKay, 22, scored Northampton's first goal in their shock Carling Cup victory over Liverpool at Anfield last season. The Corby-born player has represented Northern Ireland at Under-21 level and scored 16 goals in two seasons for the Cobblers after leaving Leicester. However, after suffering a broken elbow in Gary Johnson's first game in charge of the Cobblers, McKay struggled to make an impact on his new boss. The player turned down a new contract with Northampton at the end of last season after being told he was unlikely to feature in the starting line-up this season. Inverness manager Terry Butcher told the club's official website: "I've been working hard on Aaron and Billy for some time and I'm delighted both have agreed to come. "Doran showed his talent when he joined us in the January window while I have had excellent reports on McKay. "They are good young performers who can progress at Inverness."
