McIlroy says team talk worked

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy revealed a half-time rollicking inspired his side to draw 1-1 with Cheltenham.

Josh Low fired the Robins ahead just before half-time, but a Phil Jevons penalty 10 minutes from the end snatched the Shrimps a point. "We had a few words at half-time, I told my lads we were still in the game," said McIlroy. "We were disappointed to give a goal away but I just said 'keep doing what you're doing but in the final third just be a little bit more positive' and I thought second half they were absolutely superb. "I thought we camped in their half for long periods, it was just the final ball that let us down at times but we kept going and we deserved what we got and maybe more. "It's down to more concentration in the final third but we were without Mark Duffy, we had Garry Hunter doing a job up and down the right-hand side, little Browny (Scott Brown) doing a job on the left and we made a couple of substitutions and they played a part. "But I'm proud of the effort and commitment of our boys in the second half."
