Crawley v AFC Wimbledon preview

Image: McFadzean: Injury concern

Team news for Friday's Carling Cup preliminary round clash between Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon at Broadfield Stadium.

Crawley will check on the fitness of defender Kyle McFadzean. McFadzean missed Tuesday night's friendly defeat by Peterborough as a precaution with a tight groin but was expected back in training ahead of the Dons clash. Skipper Pablo Mills is sidelined after recently undergoing ankle surgery and is a doubt for the start of the League Two season next week. Winger Willie Gibson is in the squad despite speculation linking him with a return to Scotland with St Johnstone. New signings Wes Thomas, Scott Davies, John Akinde, Jamie Day, Hope Akpan and Tyrone Barnett could all make their debuts. One of Thomas, Akinde or Barnett will partner last season's 40-goal top scorer Matt Tubbs in attack. AFC Wimbledon have a few injury worries. New skipper Jamie Stuart hurt his back during last weekend's friendly against Watford and will be checked over along with midfielder Lee Minshull, who picked up a dead leg. Of boss Terry Brown's six new signings, defender Mat Mitchel-King is unavailable having missed most of pre-season with glandular fever while left-back Gareth Gwillim (shoulder) and striker Charles Ademeno (bruised heel) will be assessed. Fellow summer recruits Max Porter, Jack Midson and Chris Bush are fit and in line to make their debuts. Midfielder James Mulley has resumed training after a hamstring injury but defender Fraser Franks (knee) is a long-term absentee. The winners of the play-off will meet Crystal Palace in the first round.
