Alexander hails Cod Army spirit

Graham Alexander believes Fleetwood could have taken more from their clash with Chesterfield after sharing a 1-1 draw.

Jon Parkin's late strike cancelled out Liam Cooper's opener, while Jeff Hughes blazed a second-half penalty over the crossbar, to keep the Spireites one point ahead of Town at the summit of League Two. Speaking after the match, Alexander said: "I'm content with that. It was a tough game and it was hard to go 1-0 down. "But we've shown great character. We deserved the goal, no doubt. "It's just a shame it didn't come earlier and we could have gone on and looked for a win. "It was the top two in the league and neither wanted to get beaten. "It sometimes takes a goal to open up the game and that's certainly what happened."
