Uncertain future for Russell

Northampton's on-loan midfielder Alex Russell has admitted he is in the dark about his future at the club.

Cobblers midfielder's loan spell ends at the weekend

Alex Russell admits he is in the dark over his future as his loan spell at Northampton draws to a close. The Bristol City midfielder has spent the past two months at Sixfields but is set to return to Ashton Gate after Northampton's game against Southend at the weekend. Russell, who scored the winner against Oldham on Saturday, admits he would not be against the idea of a further spell with Northampton. "The managers will talk about my loan soon, it is up after the Southend game on Saturday," said Russell. "At the moment I've got a little bit of a niggle in my knee that might need looking at. It's not too serious but it is making me a little bit wary. "At the moment my mind is still with Bristol City but if I could stay here for another month that would be great for me. "I've really enjoyed my time here, the lads are great and the results have been good for us recently as well."
