Defender keen to make permanent move to Meadow Lane

Chesterfield defender Phil Picken wants to turn his loan spell at Notts County into a permanent deal. The 23-year-old, who is set to remain at Meadow Lane until the end of the season, still has 15 months remaining on his deal with the Spireites. But Picken insists he would be ready to leave Saltergate if Magpies manager Ian McParland offered him a full-time contract in the summer. "I hope I am here next season but I don't know what's happening at the moment," Picken told the Nottingham Evening Post. "There are quite a few of the lads (at Chesterfield) out of contract at the end of the season and they don't know what's going on either. "Hopefully I have earned myself a contract. I haven't spoken to Chesterfield about it but I want to get my future sorted out. It's not too bad because I have got another year there. But it would be nice to sort out where I am going to be playing next year. "I want to stay here because I think the club has a serious chance of making the play-offs next season."
