Reid upbeat despite cup defeat

Plymouth boss Peter Reid was happy with the Pilgrims' performance despite their 3-0 Johnstone's Paint trophy shoot-out defeat to Exeter.

Grecians goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley emerged as the hero, saving two Argyle penalties and Robbie Williams hit the post as the Pilgrims failed to convert any of their efforts. "I thought we did all right and we were a bit unfortunate," Reid said. "We played with plenty of energy when they had the ball, we shut them down well and I thought we passed the ball very well. "I think we opened them up once or twice and we got a great goal. Their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves, but if I was going to be ultra-critical I think we should have done more with some of the possession we had. Our final ball just let us down a bit in the final third. "We played a different system and changed the players around and I thought we did very well. I'm just disappointed for the fans that we didn't get the result."
