Bennett bags Doncaster win

Kyle Bennett's cool finish helped Doncaster seal a 1-0 win at Colchester and secure their second successive league away victory.

There were few chances in an even first half, as a midfield battle ensued. Freddie Sears headed George Moncur's cross wide at the near post in the opening minutes and Dominic Vose curled wide from the edge of the area for Colchester. But the best chance of the first half fell to Doncaster on the half-hour mark when Theo Robinson headed over from James Coppinger's cross. The second half continued in similar fashion, with Colchester keeper Sam Walker denying Dean Furman on the hour mark. But Doncaster broke the deadlock in the 65th minute through Bennett, who swept in a low left-foot shot from just inside the area after Walker had denied Furman from close range and Colchester had failed to clear their lines. Furman somehow failed to make it 2-0 from three yards out after Coppinger had picked him out but in the end, Bennett's strike proved enough.
