Nugent: That was unbelievable

Leyton Orient caretaker coach Kevin Nugent refused to be drawn on his position after securing a 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.
Romain Vincelot headed a dramatic equaliser for the visitors in the ninth minute of stoppage time. United, who fell behind to Jay Simpson's 38th minute goal, put the visitors under pressure and hit the woodwork on three occasions. They looked to be heading for victory when Paddy McCarthy levelled in the last minute and Marc McNulty put them ahead shortly after. But Vincelot got on the end of a Jack Price corner to rescue Leyton Orient, who had Jobi McAnuff sent-off in the 75th minute after he received two yellow cards. Nugent said: "It was an unbelievable game. I thought we did well and grew into the game in the first half. We got camped in during the second half when we were putting bodies on the line and blocking shots. "They then got the two goals and you were left thinking that was it, but then we popped up with one right at the end. It was a great game for the neutral. "I think Jobi McAnuff's sending off affected us. I thought one of the bookings was a little harsh, but it was what it was. We were getting camped in and it made it even more difficult for us. "The strength of character of the players has never been in question. Against 10 men, away at Sheffield United, it was an unbelievable test of character. "I'm still in charge at the moment but I think the club will be making a statement pretty soon, so I'll leave that to them." On rumours linking him with a role at Cardiff, under former Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade, Nugent said: "There has been plenty of talk about that but there's nothing currently happening with that. "I just want to focus on what was a fantastic, spirited performance by our lads and not take anything away from that." Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough said: "We've scored late goals ourselves in recent times and it hurts when one goes against you, but in terms of the overall performance, I was absolutely delighted. That was the best we have played this season. "When you're hitting the bar and the post and the ball is getting cleared off the line, you tend to think it is one of those days, but we've got great belief. We scored two late on in the last home game and we kept going and did it again. "Then we have to manage the game a little better against 10 men. There was just a bit of naivety in the last 30 seconds of the game. "Leyton Orient are unbeaten away from home and there's a reason for that because they're very good defensively."
