Burnett happy with clean sheet

Dagenham boss Wayne Burnett was pleased to pick up another clean sheet after a 0-0 draw with Oxford at Victoria Road.

Ashley Chambers should have put Daggers ahead after 18 minutes, but he side-footed wide at the back post following Ashley Hemmings' superb ball into the box. Danny Hylton had a great chance for Oxford with five minutes remaining, but he headed off target following Callum O'Dowda's cross and it finished goalless. Burnett said: "From a positive point of view it is another clean sheet. We didn't really threaten their goal at all, but they didn't threat ours. "The wind, the weather and the conditions had a massive part to play in the game and it was a contrast to the first game between the two teams a 3-3 draw in August. "Neither team seemed to be able to get their foot on the ball and pass it. We had probably the best opportunity in the first half with Ashley Chambers. "I have had the benefit of looking at it and Ashley should have done better. He should have at least hit the target. "I spoke with the players and they are disappointed we didn't test their goalkeeper enough. We had some long-range efforts and some shots, but we didn't test him enough." Oxford manager Michael Appleton was also happy with a point in after testing windy conditions. He said: "I was delighted, absolutely delighted. It is a difficult place, the pitch isn't particularly great. "With the wind it was difficult for both sides, but we had to deal with it and it was the same for both sides. "On another day we might have nicked it 1-0, we had a couple of chances in the first half and Danny Hylton has had a great chance at the end. "The players will take confidence from the clean sheet and they did very well. We only had to defend balls coming into the box and set plays. "It never was going to be a game for the purist on a cold, January day and obviously the pitch has taken its toll. "With the wind the way it was it was always going to be very difficult for the players, but they stood strong and I thought we looked a threat in the second half."
