After confirming the live Sky Sports fixtures for the 2017 season at a launch in Dublin earlier this week, it's time to look ahead to the upcoming campaign.

So the Sky Sports experts, whose in-depth analysis you can again hear throughout the season, have taken us closer to the game in our extended advert for the new season.

Sky Sports coverage of the new season kicks off with a double-header weekend, beginning with football as defending Sam Maguire champions Dublin begin their bid for a third successive title.

Dublin face either Carlow or Wexford at 7pm in the Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final on Saturday June 3 and on Sunday June 4 it is the Munster Senior Hurling Championship which takes centre stage as Clare host Limerick in a semi-final.
