Kerry v Kildare: All-Ireland SFC quarter-final preview
Sunday 2 August 2015 14:37, UK
Kerry will look to continue their impressive record in All-Ireland quarter-finals when they face Kildare at Croke Park on Sunday.
The Kingdom have reached the last-eight for the 15th successive season, winning 12, drawing one and losing just two of their 15 previous games at this stage.
Both teams head into Sunday’s clash on the back of victories over Cork, and Kerry manager Éamonn Fitzmaurice has made one to the side that were victorious in last month’s Munster final replay.
Johnny Buckley, who was substituted during the first half of that contest, drops out of the starting line-up, with Stephen O’Brien taking his place at wing-forward.
Kildare manager Jason Ryan has kept faith with the side that scored an impressive 1-21 to 1-13 win over Cork last weekend.
Niall Kelly and Eoghan O’Flaherty are named in the half-forward line after hitting a combined 1-9 against the Rebels, with the impressive pairing of Tommy Moolick and Paul Cribbin continuing at midfield.
The last championship meeting between these counties came in the 2002 Qualifiers, where the men from Munster ran out 2-10 to 1-5 winners to mark the end of Kerry legend Mick O’Dwyer’s second term as Kildare manager.
