GAA: Cavan host Roscommon on Saturday in Round 2B of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers
Saturday 12 July 2014 17:50, UK
Cavan and Roscommon will meet for the third time this year in Saturday’s All-Ireland SFC Round 2B qualifier at Kingspan Breffni Park.
The Breffni County were 0-14 to 1-8 winners in the penultimate round of National League fixtures but the Rossies gained revenge in the Division Three final, registering a 1-17 to 0-18 victory at Croke Park.
Cavan were narrow one-point victors over Westmeath in the first round of the qualifiers and manager Terry Hyland has made two changes to his starting line-up.
Feargal Flanagan returns at full-back after serving a one-match suspension while Eugene Keating is preferred to David Givney at full-forward.
Cian Mackey and Martin Dunne miss out through injury while Killian Clarke is also unavailable after moving to Boston for the summer.
Roscommon manager John Evans has not named his line-up but he has hinted at restoring some of his U21s to the starting 15.
Having lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland final, Evans resisted starting any U21 players against Leitrim or Mayo to allow them time to get over that defeat.
David Keenan is back in contention after missing the Connacht semi-final loss to Mayo with a hamstring injury, but they will be without Donie Shine (knee), who kicked six points against Cavan in the league final.
Cavan: C Gilsenan; J McLoughlin, R Dunne, F Flanagan; J Hayes, J McEnroe, R Maloney-Derham; D O’Reilly, G McKiernan; M Argue, M Lyng, N McDermott; J Brady, E Keating, M Reilly.
Roscommon: TBC.
