There are a host of intercounty stars included on the Fitzgibbon Cup Team of the Year.

The Fitzgibbon Cup team of the year has been announced, and unsurprisingly, UL lead the way following their impressive success. The Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Rising Stars XV for hurling recognised the standout performers from this year's Fitzgibbon Cup, as the star-studded Limerick outfit stormed to a memorable triumph.

The 'Wolves' have seven representatives on the team, including Tipperary duo Jason Forde and John McGrath.

Beaten finalists DCU have three representatives, with Dublin intercounty pair Eoghan O'Donnell and Donal Burke earning spots on the side.

GAA President John Horan revealed how he is expecting to see those selected feature prominently at the top level in the coming years.

More of these names will follow them in the years to come.

"Indeed, many of those chosen here have already embarked on senior inter-county careers and are making headlines. I've no doubt more of these names will follow them in the years to come," he said.
