GAA: Kilkenny v Waterford and Tipperary v Dublin in hurling draw

It's a repeat of the 2008 All-Ireland hurling final as Waterford will face Kilkenny in the second round of the hurling championship.

In the other draw, All-Ireland champions Tipperary will face Dublin.

Kilkenny were convincing winners of that Final at Croke Park nine years ago, winning 3-30 to 1-13, but Brian Cody's side have failed to convince in the championship so far this season.

On Saturday, the Cats got by Limerick on a scoreline of 0-20 to 0-17 but their Leinster semi-final loss to Wexford suggested they were past their best.

Waterford beat Offaly 1-35 to 0-14 in round one, as 13 different players got on the scoresheet.

All-Ireland champions Tipperary will be thankful they missed one of the big guns. They were nowhere near their best against Westmeath but did win 2-18 to 0-15. That scoreline flattered them as it was only a late flurry of scores that made the result look good.

With 17 minutes of normal time remaining, Westmeath were just three points behind, 0-12 to 1-12, when Cormac Boyle forced a brilliant save from Tipp's championship debutant and net-minder Daragh Mooney.

Dublin beat Laois 2-28 to 1-15 in Parnell Park on Saturday but will be considered by many to be the weakest side in the draw.

Unlike the football draw, there is no home advantage so confirmation of venues, times and dates for the fixtures following a meeting of C.C.C.C on Monday afternoon.
