Cork are hopeful that forward Conor Lehane will return to full fitness in time for their home clash with Waterford on Saturday, June 8.

The Midleton club man suffered a calf injury in the sixth minute of Sunday's tie at the LIT Gaelic Grounds, and was replaced by Alan Cadogan for the remainder of the match.

However, manager John Meyler has said that they are hopeful the 26-year-old will make a swift return.

"Calf injuries are problematic, they're going to take time," explained Meyler, speaking at Centra's launch of the GAA All Ireland Hurling Championship. "It's up to the medical team really to get him back and get him ready for selection for two weeks' time.

"I just hope he is because he's a fantastic hurler."

Cork bounced back from their opening day loss to Tipperary with a statement victory over the All-Ireland champions. However, they still need to pick up more points if they are to ensure themselves a spot in the All-Ireland series.

Next up they face the Déise in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, a game you can watch live on Sky Sports, before a trip to Ennis in the final round.
