US skipper Davis Love was looking for players in hot form when finalising his Ryder Cup picks and Snedeker put himself into that category with a second at The Barclays and a sixth in the Deutsche Bank.
It's also extremely likely that Love had his head turned by Snedeker's brilliance with the putter.
Strokes Gained - Putting is now the PGA Tour's stat of choice on the greens and the 31-year-old is ranked first.
Snedeker made a big impact when he joined the Tour in 2007 and a victory in the Wyndham Championship helped him secure Rookie of the Year honours.
He built on that the following year and made a big run at Masters glory before finishing tied third while he added a top 10 in the US Open soon after.
A second PGA Tour came at Hilton Head in 2011 and, after recovering from late-season hip surgery, he started 2012 with victory in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
He then made a big impact with British viewers by racing into the halfway lead in The Open at Royal Lytham.
It was that tied third place finish on the famous links along with his strong FedEx Cup form that vaulted him from unlikely outsider to confirmed wildcard pick.
