PGA Tour rookie dominates qualifying
Tour rookie Harris English and England's Greg Owen have both qualified for the Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes in July.
English, a PGA Tour first year professional, dominated the 36-hole qualifying tournament at the Gleneagles County Club Queens Course at Plano, near Dallas.
He shot an incredible course record 10-under-par before following up with a second round 63 to secure his place at the Open on July 19-22.
English's 60 was the lowest 18-hole qualifying score since the Royal and Ancient began staging qualifying in the United States in 2004.
English and Owen will be joined by the other finishers inside the top eight - Sweden's Daniel Chopra, Canada's Stephen Ames, Argentina's Andres Romero and Americans Justin Hicks, James Driscoll and Bob Estes.
English, 22, from Georgia, who played in the amateur Walker Cup in Aberdeen last September, shot six successive birdies from the third to turn in 29, eagled the 10th and then added further birdies at the 12th and 18th to post his 60.
Following the first round Chopra had been joint second along with Americans Tommy 'Two Gloves' Gainey and Michael Thompson but only the Swede kept his spot in the top eight.
Chopra's compatriot Henrik Stenson, third in The Open in 2008 and 2010, returned a 68 but also faded in his second round.
England's Brian Davis (69) and Scot Russell Knox (65) also missed out after poor second rounds.
