Butch Harmon believes Jason Day looks settled at the top of the world rankings heading in to this week's Tour Championship and feels his run of performances is very similar to that of Tiger Woods' during his success in 2000.

The Australian heads in to the FedExCup's season-ending finale off the back of four wins from his last six starts and is back as world No 1 after cruising to a dominant victory at last week's BMW Championship

Speaking during of Sky Sports' live coverage of this week's TOUR Championship, Harmon said: "He (Day) is a great young man. He's fun to talk to; he has got a good sense of humour and is very comfortable in this position.

"He's driving it straighter and further than anyone, his iron play is phenomenal and when he misses greens he goes and holes these eight or ten footers to keep the round going."

"We've seen guys that have come up and been No 1 and aren't in that position, but he's very comfortable on where he is and who he is.

"He feels great about his game and obviously his record has been unbelievable of late, but he works hard.

Jason Day gives his thoughts on winning the BMW Championship and topping the world rankings.

"I talked to him on the range on Wednesday to congratulate him and tell him what a joy it has been to watch him play and he goes 'thanks, Butch, but I've got to work harder to stay here'. He gets the whole thing of what it takes to be world No 1 and he likes it.

"When you go and look back at all these tournaments he's won and how few bogeys he makes. He gets it up and down and reminds me of Tiger (Woods) in 2000.

"He's driving it straighter and further than anyone, his iron play is phenomenal and when he misses greens he goes and holes these eight or ten footers to keep the round going. That's what you have to do.

"It's been a joy to watch this young man play and don't forget he almost won the Open Championship. People forget that he got caught in that windstorm at St Andrews and had to play a couple of holes before they called it, or he might have also won that."
