Scotland's Richie Ramsay had a moment to remember at golf's BMW International Championship

Richie Ramsay struck the most lucrative seven-iron of his career as he earned himself a luxury car for a hole in one at the BMW International Open.

Ramsay's perfect tee-shot to the 182-yard 16th on the opening day at Golf Club Gut Laerchenhof pitched just short of the target and rolled straight into the cup, winning the Scot a BMW M760Li xDrive worth in the region of £130,000.

But he was forced to wait before getting a taste of his new prize at the back of the tee, because the car was locked!

"The wind was down off the right and hit a seven iron to hold it up," said Ramsay, who bogeyed his next two holes before playing the front nine in one under to card a 71. "I hit it and it was right down it and as it was in mid-air I thought  'car' but didn't say anything as thought might be a curse. It pitched just short and someone said 'go on, go on' and then it disappeared!

"So next thing we are leaping around the tee box, high fiving and it's just a great feeling. I tried to get in the car and it was locked.

"I've been inside now and it is beautiful. I am just processing it now and the value of it. It takes a while to process. Fantastic feeling and just huge thanks to BMW. It's such a fantastic car and great they put it up for a prize."
