Beth Allen sees the funny side when she misses an easy putt during round two of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi

Beth Allen remains well-placed at the halfway stage of the Fatima Bint Murabak Ladies Open, despite a moment to forget during her second round in Abu Dhabi.

The American followed an opening-round 66 with a four-under 68 on Thursday to say within three strokes of midway pacesetter Olafia Kristinsdottir.

Allen fired four birdies along the front nine to reach the turn in 32, before slipping down the leaderboard with a double-bogey at the par-four 10th.

A birdie at the next looked almost certain to be followed by a par at the short 12th when Allen left her second shot barely a foot from the cup, only to trickle her effort past the right edge.

After seeing the funny side and tidying up for bogey, Allen posted two birdies over the closing four holes to join Gwladys Nocera, Georgia Hall and Holly Clyburn in a tie for second.
